Job summary

Chartwells is seeking a School Chef Manager for Huntingdon to lead a small catering unit in a school environment, ensuring high standards of food preparation, service and compliance with contractual and statutory requirements. You will organize a team, manage menus, control costs, and deliver quality meals for term-time operation (44.6 weeks).

The role includes free onsite parking, meals on duty, and a contributory pension, in a supportive, career‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in managing successful teams in a similar environment.
• Minimum 2 years catering experience.
• Excellent financial acumen.
• IT literate.
• Good knowledge and experience of working with food.
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate.

Responsibilities

• Organise and supervise the unit to standards required by Compass Group UK & I, the contract specification and regulations.
• Responsible for preparation, cooking and service of food to agreed standards and specification.
• Ensure efficient and economical use of all resources, including stock, team members and company assets.
• Provide a quality service.
