Edsential Community Interest Company is seeking a Catering Supervisor or Kitchen Assistant for Barnton Community Nursery and Primary School, Northwich. The role runs approximately 08:00–14:00 with 30-hour shifts, a school term–time contract plus two cleaning days, and pay spread over 12 months.

You will lead the kitchen team, ensure high hygiene standards, manage allergens, handle stock and orders, and liaise with school staff to deliver quality meals and a great pupil experience.

Qualifications

• Experience running a school kitchen is advantageous.
• Ability to empower and lead a team.
• Build relationships and promote a positive work environment.
• Lead by example attitude.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a busy customer facing role.
• Flexible to work within other Edsential units as required.
• Comfortable working with IT systems; full training on induction.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and presenting food to a high standard of hygiene and safe practice.
• Allergen management and dietary.
• Completion of kitchen administration, e.g. Health and Safety checks, allergen management.
• Maintain accurate records; stock control, food orders, quality assurance.
• Manage relationships with school staff (teachers, managers, headteachers).
• Management of kitchen staff (timesheets, absence management, probation meetings).
