Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment seeks an experienced Assistant Catering Manager for a Wirral secondary school. The role supports the Catering Manager in running kitchen and dining operations, ensuring quality meals, service, and compliance with hygiene and safety standards. Term-time, full-time hours with DBS requirement.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, plan menus, monitor stock, and uphold high customer service. Suitable background in catering and supervisory work is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a catering, hospitality, or food service environment.
• Experience supervising or leading a team.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 desirable).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of food safety and health & safety regulations.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support the Catering Manager with the day-to-day running of the kitchen and dining facilities.
• Assist with menu planning, food preparation, and service delivery.
• Supervise catering staff and allocate duties as required.
• Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and customer service.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control.
• Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and hygiene.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.
• Assist with training and supporting catering team members.
• Promote a positive dining experience for students, staff, and visitors.
