Job summary

Edsential is seeking a Catering Supervisor or Kitchen Assistant to support school catering across Cheshire West and Chester / Wirral. This 25-hour per week term-time contract (plus 2 cleaning days) pays £14.11 per hour, with salary paid across 12 months at Christ Church Primary School, Birkenhead.

You will lead kitchen staff, manage allergens, maintain hygiene records, and build strong relationships with school staff while ensuring high quality food and customer experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of running a school kitchen would be advantageous.
• Able to empower and lead a team.
• Able to build relationships and promote a positive work environment.
• Lead by example attitude.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a busy customer facing role.
• Flexible to work within other Edsential units as required.
• Comfortable working with IT systems - Full training will be provided on induction.

• Preparing and presenting food to a high standard of hygiene and safe practice.
• Allergen Management and dietrary.
• Completion of all kitchen administration, i.e Health and Safety Checks, Allergen Management.
• Stock control, food orders, quality assurance.
• Manage relationships with School Staff such as Teachers, Business Managers and Head Teachers.
• Management of kitchen staff i.e processing timesheets, absence management and probation meetings.

If successful, you will be supporting the Catering operations in running the service at Christ Church Primary School. You’ll be representing both Edsential and our school to ensure that all pupils have the best quality food and customer experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising the Kitchen staff in the following duties:

• Preparing and presenting food to a high standard of hygiene and safe practice
