Job summary

Edsential is seeking a Catering Supervisor to lead the Barnton Community School kitchen, ensuring high standards of food hygiene and an excellent pupil experience. The role covers supervision of kitchen staff, allergen management, stock control, and admin tasks, with flexible duties across Edsential units as required.

Working hours are 08:00–14:00, 30 hours per week, term time plus two cleaning days; salary is paid over 12 months (£14.11/hour).

Qualifications

• Previous experience of running a school kitchen would be advantageous.
• The ability to empower and lead a team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Flexible to work within other Edsential units as required.
• Comfortable working with IT systems - Full training will be provided on induction.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and presenting food to a high standard of hygiene and safe practice.
• Allergen Management and dietary needs.
• Completion of kitchen administration, Health and Safety checks and allergen management.
• Stock control, food orders and quality assurance to meet targets.
• Manage relationships with School Staff such as Teachers, Business Managers and Head Teachers.
• Management of kitchen staff including timesheets, absence management and probation meetings.

If successful, you will be supporting the Catering operations in running the service at Barnton Community Nursery and Primary School.You’ll be representing both Edsential and our school to ensure that all pupils have the best quality food and customer experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising the Kitchen staff in the following duties:

• Preparing and presenting food to a high standard of hygiene and safe practice
• Allergen Management and dietrary
• Completion of all kitchen administration, i.e Health and Safety Checks, Allergen Management
• Work to maintain accurate records and ensure kitchen targets are met, i.e stock control, food orders, quality assurance
• Manage relationships with School Staff such as Teachers, Business Managers and Head Teachers
• Management of kitchen staff i.e processing timesheets, absence management and probation meetings
