Job summary

Greenleas School is seeking a dedicated individual to support pupils during term-time with daily care and learning activities. The role is based at our Kestrel Way site, with deployment across two sites as needed to meet children’s needs.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, first aid, and supporting teachers to enable inclusive learning. The post requires collaboration with SENCOs, colleagues and school leadership, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safeguarding

Responsibilities

• Attend to the physical needs of pupils, including washing, toileting, feeding, cleaning, dressing and undressing as required.
• Administer first aid/medication as needed; assist with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy or speech therapy under guidance of a specialist.
• Address pupils' educational, personal and social needs and weave these into learning activities when possible.
• Promote inclusion of all pupils in learning tasks and encourage participation.
• Support for a named pupil with SEN if required and assist others as directed by the Headteacher.
• Assist teaching staff in managing pupil behaviour and supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Communicate effectively with teachers regarding pupil welfare, concerns and progress.
• Help prepare resources or activities to promote pupil well-being.
• Support the implementation of individual care or behaviour plans.
• Collaborate with colleagues, SENCO and other teaching assistants within school policies.
• Attend staff meetings, participate in performance management and undertake training and development.
• Maintain confidentiality on school-related matters and protect sensitive information.
• Undertake tasks of a similar nature as directed by the Headteacher/Manager.
