Job summary

Durham County Council's Ropery Walk Primary School in Seaham is seeking a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant to support pupils during the midday break. The role is 6.25 hours per week, 11:45am-1pm, during term time, starting 2 November 2026.

You will contribute to childrens’ welfare and play, supervise meals, and aid with hand-washing and entry/exit control within the dining hall. The successful candidate will be caring, reliable and able to work as part of a team; training will be provided and

Qualifications

• Be caring, hardworking and reliable.
• Have the ability to work as part of a team.
• Assist in supervising meals and encouraging proper use of cutlery.
• Supervise hand-washing of pupils.
• Supervise entry/exit into/from the dining hall by the pupils.

Responsibilities

• Supervise meals and assist in maintaining tidiness during mealtime.
• Maintain incident/accident records as required.
• Follow the school's behaviour policy and report misbehaviour.
• Attend training courses relevant to the post for professional development.
• Present oneself as a role model in speech, dress, behaviour and attitude.
