Job summary

Halton Borough Council is recruiting a Term Time Only Driver/Assistant for the Passenger Transport Team. The role involves the safe transport of children with Special Educational Needs and vulnerable adults between homes and a variety of schools and care settings, within and outside the borough.

Applicants should hold a Full UK driving license (D1) and show compassion and professionalism in every interaction. The post is 20 hours per week, with split shifts across term time.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license category D1.
• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or vulnerable adults preferred.
• Demonstrates compassion, patience and professional conduct at all times.

Responsibilities

• Transport SEN children and vulnerable adults between homes and educational/care settings.
• Safely operate the vehicle and provide assistance with wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
• Ensure passenger safety, comfort and adherence to schedules and routes.
• Work as part of the Passenger Transport Team to deliver reliable, person‑centred transport services.
