Job summary

West Somerset College in Minehead is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and dynamic team. This role is vital in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences, supporting students from Year 9 to Year 11, and contributing to the wider life of the school.

The post is a part-time, permanent position (15 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, term-time plus INSET days) with BTCT Band 5 starting from £9,427.11 per annum.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Confident in managing classroom behaviour and supporting learning needs.
• Strong ICT and numeracy skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with students and staff.
• Flexible, proactive, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-set lesson instructions and maintain pupil engagement and behaviour.
• Respond to general student queries and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Support with exam invigilation and accompany students on educational visits.
• Provide administrative and pastoral support when not supervising lessons.
• Maintain attendance records and manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Assist with classroom displays and curriculum-related admin tasks.
