Job summary

West Somerset College in Minehead is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to support pupils in years 9–11 during teacher absences. This part-time role is 15 hours per week over 39 weeks per year, permanent, BTCT Band 5 starting from £9,427.11 per annum.

You will supervise classes, deliver pre-set instructions, assist with admin and pastoral duties, and help maintain learning continuity across the school.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at C/4 or above.
• Strong ICT and numeracy skills.
• Confident in managing classroom behaviour.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Flexible, proactive and supportive to students.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during short-term teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-set lesson instructions and maintain pupil engagement.
• Respond to student queries and provide feedback to staff.
• Assist with exam invigilation and educational visits.
• Provide admin and pastoral support when not supervising.
• Maintain attendance records and classroom behaviour per policies.
• Assist with displays and curriculum-related tasks.
