Job summary

Manchester City Council is seeking an After School Club Playworker to join the Out of School Hours (OOSH) team. The role is part-time (15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 3:00pm–6:00pm, term time only) with a permanent contract and a pro-rata salary based on £26,016 full-time equivalent. Start date 5 October 2026.

You will help create fun, safe, and engaging spaces for children after school, designing activities and ensuring well-being and safety in both indoor and outdoor areas.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Childcare or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working with children or young adults.
  • Ability to design engaging activities using indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Able to communicate effectively and warmly with parents and carers.
  • Capable of keeping spaces tidy after each session.
  • Works well in a collaborative OOSH team.

Responsibilities

  • Design engaging, entertaining activities for children using indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Ensure children are safe and secure at all times.
  • Manage behaviour following school policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
  • Leave spaces tidy and clean at the end of each session.
  • Collaborate positively with the OOSH team.
