Job summary

Midlothian Council is seeking a Housing Officer to support high-quality housing services across communities in Midlothian. You will work with tenants, residents, and partner agencies, helping sustain tenancies and address housing issues while delivering a professional service.

Applicants with transferable skills from customer service or social care are welcome; housing experience is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• Operational knowledge of housing policy and legislation.
• Experience with vulnerable clients and welfare advice.
• Knowledge of housing and related legislation in council procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage a designated area and act as first contact for tenants.
• Support tenancy sustainment and provide housing advice.
• Investigate and resolve anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood issues.
• Manage tenancy changes, successions, and related matters.
• Carry out estate inspections and maintain safe, clean neighbourhoods.
• Contribute to excellent customer service and service improvement.
