Job summary

Mabey Hire in the United Kingdom is seeking a Design Engineer to join our engineering team. You will produce temporary works designs for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework, and check designs to BS5975:2019.

The role suits an engineer with a few years post‑graduate experience in civil/structural design, with a sound understanding of temporary works and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering.
• At least 3 years experience designing temporary works.
• The ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
• Experience of designing Formwork & Falsework.
• Good understanding of CDM 2015.
• Experience utilising AutoCAD 2D and/or REVIT.

Responsibilities

• Experience of designing temporary works for groundworks and/or building refurbishment propping (e.g geotechnical design of sheet pile cofferdams and/or propping and needling).
• Prepare temporary works designs for groundworks and eventually other product schemes.
• Checking designs and drawing in accordance with BS5975:2019.
• Attend client meetings and carry out site visits.
• Review design briefs provided by the sales team through Launchpad and provide feedback if more information is required.
• Managing your own workload.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director.
