Job summary

Kier Group plc. is seeking a Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our civil, structural and geotechnical team across multiple UK locations. The role offers agile working with up to 1-2 days from home and a 40-hour week.

You will produce and check design outputs, lead simpler projects, and contribute to process improvements while supporting major infrastructure schemes from bid to delivery.

Qualifications

• Practical-minded, with a strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles
• Working towards Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status (CEng or IEng) or equivalent experience
• Experience of temporary works design and/or management or other practical construction experience
• Strong organisational and communication skills and ability to work in collaborative teams

Responsibilities

• Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes
• Acting as Project Lead for simpler projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery
• Developing yourself and contributing to continuous improvement of processes and systems to help the business adapt to current and future challenges

Job Description Temporary Works Design Engineer We're looking for civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineers to join our team in various locations around the UK.

Locations: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth - agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired.

Hours: 40 hours per week - flexibility on hours available if desired.

Salary: Starting from £40k per annum.

Join us as a Temporary Works Design Engineer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction-related technical services. As part of our 100-strong team, you'll get to work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high-profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline - supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept, services, including some or all of: temporary works design and checking, reviewing permanent designs for compliance and buildability, supporting tenders and preconstruction planning, and providing technical support to overcome construction-stage and post-construction issues and defects.
