Job summary

Kier is seeking a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to join our team across the UK. You will work within civil, structural and/or geotechnical disciplines on a busy portfolio of temporary works design and management projects.

In this role you will lead design outputs, check calculations and drawings, coordinate with preconstruction and site teams, and help develop the wider engineering team while promoting safety, buildability and sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Practical civil/structural/geotechnical engineering principles and knowledge of design standards.
• IEng/CEng route or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving with a focus on safety, buildability, sustainability and innovation.
• Experience in temporary works design and/or management.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Producing, checking and reviewing design outputs such as calculations, sketches, drawings, 3D models, reports and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with CDM, SHE procedures and QA processes
• Acting as Project Lead for multiple projects, managing technical scope, programme, budget and relationships with preconstruction and construction teams, from bid through to delivery
• Developing yourself, other individuals and the wider team, contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems, enabling the business to adapt to current and future challenges

Senior Temporary Works Engineer

We're looking for civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineers to join our team in various locations around the UK.

• Locations: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth - agile working, with up to 1-2 days per week from home if desired
• Hours: 40 hours per week - flexibility on hours available if desired
• Salary: Starting from £50k per annum

Job Description

Join us as a Senior Temporary Works Engineer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction-related technical services. As part of our 100-strong team, you'll get to work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high-profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline - supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept through, or all of: temporary works design and checking, reviewing permanent designs for compliance and buildability, supporting tenders and preconstruction planning, and providing technical support to overcome construction-stage and post-construction issues and defects.

Qualifications and Desirables

• Are you... Practically-minded, with a strong grounding in civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering principles and knowledge of applicable design standards?
• An Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with an equivalent level of experience?
• Do you... Enjoy applying first principles thinking to real-world construction challenges, combining a keen eye for detail with sound engineering judgement, a focus on safety, buildability, sustainability and a flair for innovation and creative problem-solving?
• Have experienced of temporary works design and/ or management, or other practical construction experience?
