Job summary

Choice Teachers is seeking a reliable School Site Manager / Caretaker for temporary sickness cover in Bury. The role involves daily operation, security, maintenance and presentation of school premises to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

Key responsibilities include opening and locking premises, basic maintenance, health and safety checks, liaising with contractors, and assisting with events and grounds work. Start date to be confirmed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in caretaking, site management or maintenance, preferably within a school.
• Good practical DIY and maintenance skills.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and use initiative.
• Flexible, reliable and hardworking with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Open and unlock the school premises as required.
• Close and secure the school at the end of the day and ensure overnight security.
• Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs and DIY tasks.
• Ensure the site is safe, clean and well-maintained.
• Complete health and safety checks and report hazards promptly.
• Liaise with contractors and support works on site.
• Set up rooms, halls and equipment for activities and events.
• Assist with grounds maintenance and adverse weather duties.
• Move furniture, equipment and deliveries safely.
• Undertake other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.
