TEEM Education seeks a dependable School Caretaker / Site Manager for a temporary sickness cover at a busy school in Tyldesley. The role is 32.5 hours per week in a split shift, with start ASAP.

You will maintain a safe, clean and functional site, manage daily upkeep and security, and support school events. The successful candidate will be practical, organised and able to work independently, taking pride in high standards and collaborating with staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a School Caretaker/ Site Manager or similar maintenance role.
• Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Current Enhanced DBS and eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily upkeep, maintenance and security of the school site including opening/locking the premises.
• Carry out minor repairs and general DIY duties.
• Ensure premises are clean, safe and operational.
• Assist with setting up rooms and events on site.
• Support health and safety and compliance procedures.
• Identify and report maintenance, safety or security concerns promptly.
• Monitor site condition and take appropriate action when required.
• Work with staff, contractors and visitors as needed.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday – split shift

• 7:00am – 10:00am & 2:00pm – 5:30pm

About the Role

We are seeking a dependable, proactive and practical School Caretaker / Site Manager to provide short-term sickness cover at a busy school in Tyldesley.

This is an important role supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the school and helping to ensure the premises remain safe, secure, clean, welcoming and fully operational for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will be practical, organised and confident working independently. You will take pride in maintaining high standards across the school site, responding promptly to issues and supporting the wider school team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily upkeep, maintenance and security of the school site, including opening and locking up the premises.
• Carry out minor repairs, maintenance and general DIY duties.
• Ensure the school premises are maintained in a clean, safe and operational condition.
• Assist with setting up rooms and preparing the site for school events and activities.
• Support the school’s health and safety and compliance procedures.
• Maintain awareness of fire safety, Legionella and asbestos procedures.
• Identify and report maintenance, health and safety or security concerns promptly.
• Monitor the condition of the school site and take appropriate action where required.
• Help ensure the premises and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard.
• Respond proactively to issues that may affect the safety, security or smooth running of the school.
• Work positively with school staff, contractors and visitors as required.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Manager, Facilities Assistant or in a similar maintenance/facilities role.
• Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• A good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Awareness of fire safety, Legionella and asbestos procedures.
• The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Good organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A reliable, flexible and proactive approach.
• A current Enhanced DBS
• Availability to start immediately.
