Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD is seeking a proactive Pastoral SEND Officer for a Blackpool secondary academy to start in November 2026. You will support vulnerable students, work with the SENCo and safeguarding leads, and deliver targeted interventions to remove barriers to education.

The role is temporary, paid on the NJC scale, with term-time hours and opportunities for professional development within a collaborative pastoral and SEND team.

Qualifications

• Proven background in pastoral support, SEND inclusion, or youth intervention in secondary school.
• Strong understanding of SEMH, ASC, ADHD, trauma, and ACEs.
• Knowledge of EHCPs and statutory SEND processes.
• Calm, boundary-setting leadership with emotional intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Act as pastoral contact for SEND students with SEMH and welfare needs.
• Deliver 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions for emotional regulation, anxiety management, attendance recovery, and conflict resolution.
• Collaborate with class teachers and support staff to implement EHCP provisions and learning plans.
• De-escalate incidents using restorative, trauma-informed approaches.
• Maintain pastoral records, liaise with parents/carers, and support multi-agency meetings.
• Support inclusion spaces to keep students engaged with mainstream academy life.
