Job summary

BEDE is seeking a Grounds Mechanic to support our Estates team on a temporary cover basis. You will maintain and repair tractors, ride-on mowers, and power tools, ensuring dependable equipment for day-to-day operations.

Candidates should have strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with the ability to work independently and start immediately. 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 7.00am–4.00pm, with a 1-hour unpaid break.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with agricultural, turf care, or commercial grounds machinery.
• Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to hit the ground running independently with minimal handover.
• Immediate or short-notice availability for the duration of the contract.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repair: service and repair tractors, ride-on mowers, and arboricultural power tools.
• Diagnostics: troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Compliance: maintain audit-ready service logs and safety records (PUWER/COSHH).
• Safety & Support: keep a safe workshop and guide grounds staff on pre-use checks.
