Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council Grounds Services are seeking a skilled Grounds Mechanic to join our Strathaven team based at the Strathaven Grounds Depot. A time-served Grounds Mechanic with an SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Land-Based Engineering/Horticultural Engineering is required.

You will maintain and repair a wide range of horticultural and agricultural plant and equipment, including ride-on mowers, tractors, excavators and other heavy machinery, and you must hold a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Qualified grounds mechanic with practical skills in maintenance of horticultural and agricultural equipment.
• Driving licence required.
• Hands-on experience with a range of machinery is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing, maintenance and repairs across the fleet.
• Diagnose faults in hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Conduct inspections and identify preventative maintenance requirements.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Support fleet availability to ensure operational service delivery.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and carry out on-site repairs when required.
