Job summary

The Oaklands Primary School in Acock’s Green Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a fixed-term post (ending 31 August 2027) to support Year 3 pupils with SEND. The role covers 32.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, term-time only, with opportunities for professional development within Summit Learning Trust.

Applicants should have at least NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent and experience with ADHD and Autism. DBS checks and safeguarding are required.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with pupils with ADHD and Autism.
• Experience working with Year 3 pupils with SEND needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with Year 3 pupils with additional needs.
• Carry out all class Teaching Assistant duties and support small groups of pupils.

We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, dedicated and hardworking Teaching Assistant to join our team at The Oaklands Primary School. Applicants should have at least NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent and have experience of working with pupils with ADHD and Autism.

The successful applicant will be working with Year 3 pupils, who have additional needs. The role will also include working with small groups of pupils and carrying out all class Teaching Assistant duties. The successful candidate will have proven experience of working with children with SEND needs, from a primary setting. You will also have excellent communication skills with children, parents and professionals and a sound knowledge and understanding of effective teaching and learning.

The Oaklands Primary School is a 2-form entry Primary school in Acock’s Green Birmingham. Our Ofsted report (March 2025) has identified many positives within our school including the school being highly ambitious for all pupils to learn, experience, achieve and flourish.
