Job summary

Confidential in Peterborough seeks a Temporary Assistant Accountant to support the finance team on an initial 1-3 month assignment. The role covers transactional finance and month-end tasks, with the ability to investigate entries and correct discrepancies.

You'll handle AP/AR, process transactions, perform reconciliations, post journals, accruals and prepayments, and assist with month-end. Strong Excel and accounting systems experience, plus the ability to work independently, are essential.

Qualifications

• Has practical accounting experience in a hands-on finance role.
• Familiar with AP and AR processes.
• Experience with reconciliations, journals and month-end tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to investigate discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Process and review financial transactions.
• Conduct bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate unusual or incorrect account entries and determine root causes.
• Correct discrepancies and ensure accuracy of records.
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Support month-end processes.
• Review data and accounts for inconsistencies.
• Provide general finance support as required.
