Job summary

The One Group is seeking a Temporary Assistant Accountant to support the client's finance team on a 1-3 month basis. The role covers transactional finance and month-end accounting, with duties including processing AP/AR, reconciliations and journal postings.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in similar roles, strong Excel and accounting systems skills, and the ability to work independently. The position is site-based in Peterborough and offers full-time hours at up to £20 per

Qualifications

• Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar hands-on finance role.
• Good working knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Practical experience with reconciliations, journals and month-end processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to investigate discrepancies.
• Confidence to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Good Excel and accounting systems experience.
• Available to start at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Process and review financial transactions.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate unusual or incorrect account entries and identify root cause.
• Correct discrepancies and ensure accounting records are accurate.
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Support month-end processes.
• Review data and accounts to identify inconsistencies.
• Provide general finance support as required.
