Job summary

Adur & Worthing Councils is seeking a Temporary Accommodation Officer to join the Housing Needs Team in Worthing. You will coordinate and manage placements of homeless households into temporary accommodation, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

The role is fast-paced and requires resilience, with close collaboration across services including Homeless Intervention, Private Sector Housing and external landlords.

Job description

Job Category: Housing & Homelessness Prevention

An opportunity has arisen in the Housing Needs Team for a Temporary Accommodation Officer.

In this role, you will predominantly be responsible for coordinating and managing placements of homeless households into temporary accommodation in accordance with statutory requirements. This role is fast paced and varied and requires resilience under pressure.

You will work within the Accommodation Team, but will also work closely with other services including the Homeless Intervention and Prevention team, Outreach, Revenues and Benefits, Private Sector Housing and external contractors and landlords.

You will deal with homeless households face to face, in writing and by phone. You will also be required to conduct inspections and home visits to different accommodation types both in and out of the Adur & Worthing borough. You will need to have good negotiation skills, IT skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage complaints both sensitively and robustly.

The post holder will be subject to a Enhanced with Adults Barred List DBS check.
