Job summary

Confidential School is seeking a Finance Reconciliation Officer on a temporary basis to support the Finance Department. The role focuses on reconciling supplier and customer accounts, investigating discrepancies, and delivering accurate reporting to the Bursar.

You will use Sage Accounting and advanced Excel to prepare detailed schedules, maintain audit trails, and present findings with clear recommendations. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience using Sage Accounting Software in a busy finance environment.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and SUMIFS for analysis and reporting.
• Proven ability to reconcile supplier and customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile supplier and customer accounts, ensuring balances are accurate and up to date.
• Review and investigate historical discrepancies, missing transactions, and outstanding balances.
• Collect and organise supporting documentation, including invoices, statements, payments, and credit notes.
• Identify and resolve aged balances, duplicate transactions, and unapplied payments.
• Use Sage Accounting to review transactions, analyse account balances, and extract reports.
• Prepare detailed reconciliation schedules and reports using Excel.
• Maintain accurate and organised audit trails for all reconciliations.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to the Bursar.
• Escalate significant issues with proposed solutions where appropriate.
