Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is seeking a Telecoms Operator based in Plymouth or Bodmin to maintain, inspect and install on the National Grid Telecoms network. You will work independently at times, handling challenges with responsibility and quick decision making.

The role requires GCSE English and Maths and clear evidence of qualifications prior to appointment, with National Security Vetting clearance a condition of the post.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at level 1–9 or equivalent.
• Proven communication skills, written and verbal.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspection and maintenance activities across telecoms sites and assist with minor repairs.
• Supervise 3rd party contractors where required.
• Support communication engineers with installation work and related tasks.
• Provide ongoing support to National Grid Telecoms teams.
