Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Technician to support our Music and Performing Arts department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with practical experience in live sound and lighting technology who enjoys working in a hands-on environment, supporting both staff and students to deliver outstanding performances and learning experiences.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining specialist sound and lighting equipment, setting up technical resources for lessons, rehearsals and live performances, monitoring and ordering stock, and ensuring studios, performance spaces and storage areas are safe, organised and well presented.

The successful candidate will support the operation, maintenance and set-up of specialist equipment, including PA systems, mixing desks, microphones, stage lighting, sound equipment and performance technology. You will also assist with the preparation and delivery of live performances, productions, showcases and events, helping to create professional learning environments that reflect industry practice.

The ideal candidate will hold a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area, possess strong organisational and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and processes within a busy educational setting.
