Technician in Art & Design

Role Description

Lewisham College, one of the largest colleges in London, is seeking an experienced Technician to join our Art & Design team.

In this role, you will support the teaching of UAL Art & Design qualifications at levels 1, 2, and 3, working with young learners and newcomers to the Creative industry.

You will assist in supervising students' activities within studio/workshop environments, demonstrating safe equipment use and practical skills.

The technician will be involved in course planning, delivery, and administration, working collaboratively to meet deadlines. Responsibilities include preparing materials, monitoring stock, and maintaining studios and machinery.

Experience with equipment and techniques such as screen-printing, darkroom, painting, drawing, construction tools, video editing software, digital cameras, projection software, and Adobe Creative Suite is required.

You will support exhibitions and promote learner work in various settings. Good communication, ICT skills, and awareness of Health & Safety regulations are essential. Opportunities to organize and participate in student field trips are also part of the role.
