Job description

The Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking to recruit a Technician to support the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SoGEES).

Role Overview

You will work as part of a team under the direction of the School Technical Manager, supporting teaching and research activities primarily in Earth Sciences and Geography, with potential involvement in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

1. Formal qualification such as NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or 4, or equivalent, in a related subject.
2. Previous laboratory experience, including familiarity with microscopes, reagents, chemicals, basic laboratory instrumentation, and Health and Safety protocols.
3. Physical fitness to support equipment organisation, fieldwork, and related activities.
4. Desirable: Full current driving license and willingness to travel.
5. Ability to engage courteously with students and colleagues, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
6. Desirable: Competent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office.
