Job summary

University of Cambridge's GK Batchelor Laboratory seeks a Technical Workshop Manager to oversee the Laboratory Workshop's day-to-day operations, coordinate bespoke equipment design, construction and procurement.

You will lead a team of three technicians, maintain budget and safety, and drive in-house capabilities to respond to emerging research challenges. The role supports cutting-edge experiments across biological physics, robotics and fluid mechanics.

Qualifications

• Experience running a technical workshop and supervising staff.
• Ability to design/build bespoke scientific equipment.
• Experience with CAD and technical drawing.
• Degree or equivalent level of practical engineering experience.
• Eligible to live and work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of the Laboratory Workshop.
• Lead in design, construction and procurement of equipment.
