Job summary

WasteRecruit Ltd in the North East is seeking a Technical Waste Assessor to support waste treatment plants, transfer stations and transport operations in the North East. The role focuses on technical assessment, customer service, and compliant quoting with a 40-hour week.

You will interpret data, generate quotes and ensure proper information flows for transport, scheduling and invoicing, contributing to efficient customer journeys and project success.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or related subject.
• Proficient with IT systems and bespoke software.

Responsibilities

• Obtain full information for each waste enquiry, including MSDS and samples.
• Interpret data such as MSDS and analysis routes to identify suitable waste treatment or disposal routes, incl. costs.
• Generate quotes for customers and manage the journey from enquiry to booking to invoicing.
• Input all information required for quoting, transport and acceptance into the database system.
• Understand site processing capabilities to enable routing of waste.
• Use the database to generate consignment notes and EA returns.
• Communicate with customers by email and phone to confirm quote parameters and scheduling.
• Liaise between Sales, Customer Service and Operations to ensure cross‑functional alignment.
• Provide advice on transport, labelling and consignment note requirements.
• Ensure quotes comply with site permits and waste management licences.

Technical Waste Assessor

£31-35K per annum plus benefits including bonus scheme

Our client, a market leader in waste recovery, is looking to recruit a Technical Waste Assessor to provide technical and customer service support for the company's waste treatment plants, transfer station & transport business in the North East. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skill base within an environmental industry and is prepared to take on challenges.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensure sufficient information is supplied for each waste enquiry, including MSDS & samples where required.
• Interpreting the data, such as MSDS & sample analysis routes, to identify appropriate waste treatment or disposal routes, including costs & caveats.
• Generating quotes for potential customers and facilitating the customer journey from enquiry to booking to invoicing.
• Ensure all information required for quoting, transport & acceptance is inputted into the database system.
• Understand site processing capabilities, physical and capability to enable routing of waste.
• Use database system to generate consignment notes and Environment Agency returns.
• Communicate with customers by email & phone to confirm quote parameters, scheduling & non-conformances.
• Liaise closely between the Sales, Customer Service and Operational functions to ensure effective communication between departments.
• Provide advice on transport, labelling & consignment note requirements.
• Ensure compliance of all waste quotes with site permits & waste management licences.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry or related subject.
• Confident in the use of IT systems and able to utilise bespoke company IT programs.
• Excellent organiser & communicator.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Contribute fully to the aims of the business and be a fully participating member of the team.

Desirable Qualities

• Knowledge of WM3 and ability to apply it to classify waste.
• Understanding of ADR regulations and ability to classify waste for transport.
• Working knowledge of the operation of a Waste Treatment Processing Plant, Transfer Station and/or Transport operations.
• Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Numerate with an understanding of business costing.

This is a full-time, office-based opportunity working 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri.
