Job summary

Dovetail and Slate Limited is seeking a Technical Tutor – Electrical to join a Berkshire FE college. You will manage an apprentice caseload, delivering coaching, mentoring and assessments to ensure EPA Gateway readiness.

You will work with digital platforms and collaborate with apprenticeship teams, employers and EPAOs to ensure compliance and successful apprenticeship outcomes.

Qualifications

• AM2/AM2S with degree/trade qualification.
• Level 2 English and Maths qualifications.
• Assessor Award (A1) and/or teaching qualification or willingness to work towards.
• Proven experience with apprentices, employers, awarding bodies and EPAOs.
• Proficient with digital learning tools and e-portfolios.
• Excellent communication, organizational and team-working skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage an apprentice caseload with coaching, mentoring and feedback.
• Conduct initial assessments and set start/end dates with learners and managers.
• Support 10-12 week progress reviews (in-person or remotely).
• Monitor off-the-job training hours to meet compliance requirements.
• Utilize MS Teams, E-Portfolios, EBS and Pro-achieve for learner tracking.
• Collaborate with central apprenticeship teams, employers, EPAOs and ALS.

Technical Tutor – Electrical

Location: Berkshire

Salary: £41,096 – £44,165 per annum (Scale L)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are recruiting a Technical Tutor – Electrical to join an established Further Education college team in Berkshire. This role is focused on managing a dedicated caseload of electrical apprentices, delivering skills coaching, mentoring, and continuous assessment to ensure learners reach End Point Assessment (EPA) Gateway readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an apprentice caseload, providing coaching, mentoring, and constructive assessment feedback.
• Conduct initial assessments and establish realistic start and planned end dates with learners and managers.
• Support 10-12 week progress reviews (in-person or remotely) to monitor knowledge, skills, and behaviors.
• Monitor, track, and audit "off-the-job" training hours to meet compliance requirements.
• Utilize digital platforms (MS Teams, E-Portfolios, EBS, Pro-achieve) for accurate learner tracking.
• Collaborate with central apprenticeship teams, employers, EPAOs, and Additional Learner Support (ALS).

Requirements

• Vocational qualifications: 18th Edition & AM2/AM2S (Degree/trade qualification).
• Level 2 English & Maths qualifications.
• Assessor Award (A1 or equivalent) and/or Teaching Qualification (CET, DET, DTLLS) or commitment to work towards.
• Proven experience working with apprentices, employers, awarding bodies, and EPAOs.
• Proficient with digital learning tools and e-portfolios.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and team-working skills.
