Job summary

Alstom is seeking a Trainer Assessor to support the Training and Competency Manager. You will ensure staff on projects are trained and competent, maintain records, and undertake risk assessments as required. The role involves travel between UK depots and occasional night shifts.

Based at Wembley, you will work with depot staff across multiple projects to keep software and systems current and valid, joining a collaborative team focused on safety and continuous development.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of technical systems including mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic etc.
  • Assessor qualification - desirable
  • Trainer qualification - desirable
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office packages
  • Current driving licence

Responsibilities

  • Assist Training and Competency Manager to ensure staff are trained and competent.
  • Maintain documentation and systems to current legislation and standards.
  • Carry out training and competence assessments with minimal disruption to production.
  • Attend site within the UK as required and travel between depots.
  • Input and maintain data in learning and competency management systems.

Your future role

To assist the Training and Competency Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that staff working on projects are trained and competent to carry out their tasks and responsibilities in line with current legislation and industry standards. To ensure that training and assessments are carried out with minimum disruption to production and that relevant documentation and systems are maintained and kept up to date.

The role is based around a flexible work pattern, mostly on dayshift, although nightshifts and out of hours working will be required. Trainer Assessors are based at one or two sites, but work as a team and are expected to attend any site within the UK, when required.

We’ll look to you for:
  • Develop and deliver training courses e.g. technical, systems, software, plant and equipment
  • Carry out competence assessments, certify competence and ensure records are maintained to an auditable standard
  • Carry out risk assessments on appropriate work tasks at all depots as required
  • Carry out in-process checks, training and competence assurance, and support internal and external compliance audits
  • Input and maintain data in learning and competency management systems to support the needs of the depot and the team
  • Support with internal verification process of competence assessment and standardisation
  • Maintain skills, knowledge and competence in accordance with continuous professional development activities
  • Travel between relevant depots to fulfil training and assessment responsibilities
  • Integrate with technical depot staff across multiple projects to keep knowledge of software and systems current and valid
