The Technical Team Lead will oversee the technical staffing for RCAS and RECS, two NHS England specialist assistive-technology services covering the North East and North Cumbria.
Based at Walkergate Park in Newcastle (RCAS) with RECS at Chad House, Hexham, you will govern equipment life cycles, ensure policies, and lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care. Applicants must have UK registration and HCPC/RCT where applicable.
We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Technical Team Lead to operationally manage the technical staffing across two specialist electronic assistive technology services - the Regional Communication Aid Service (RCAS) and the Regional Environmental Control Service (RECS). Both services are specialised services commissioned by NHS England, covering the North East and North Cumbria region.
RCAS provides specialised assessments and provision of communication aid equipment to adults and children who have complex communication needs. RCAS is based at Walkergate Park Hospital in Newcastle.
RECS provides specialist assessment and provision of environmental control systems to enable adults and children who have physical disabilities to operate a wide range of electric equipment and/or appliances within their environment, e.g. control of lights, TV, telephones, computer access, etc. RECS are based in Chad House, Hexham.
As Technical Team Lead you will be responsible for the line management and governance of Clinical Scientists, Clinical Technologists, Rehabilitation Technicians and Equipment Officers across both services. You will provide expert guidance and oversight of the management and provision of specialist assistive technology and have good working knowledge of Medical Device Regulations. You will be responsible for the whole life cycle of the equipment provided and will ensure that appropriate local policies and procedures are in place and up to date.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Therapy Team Lead and the Clinical Manager, to lead a skilled and diverse multi-disciplinary team in order to provide high quality, patient centred care.
You will also have the opportunity for client facing work, conducting specialist assessments for equipment provision, providing complex mounting of equipment and supporting the installation of equipment. Therefore you will need to be able to meet the transport requirements of a regional community based service.
We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
