Job Description:

The Building Control Support Team is responsible for providing technical and administrative functions for all work undertaken by the Building Control Team to ensure satisfactory service delivery to residents and businesses within the Borough.

You will be responsible for:

  • Processing income received through fees and charges, including raising invoices for all services provided to external clients and internal departments, ensuring compliance with Council processes, the LBE Constitution, and Financial Regulations.
  • End-to-end processing of Building Control applications, contraventions, and dangerous structures, ensuring all are logged, validated, registered, and casework handed to appropriate officers.
  • Ensuring document retention practices comply with GDPR and Council Retention Policy.
  • Issuing statutory documents, such as Completion Certificates.
  • Processing competent persons data for Local Land Charges service users.
  • Responding to customers and applicants using Building Control services.

As part of the team, provide expert and impartial advice to clients, council officers, and members on matters related to applications, payments, fees, statutory requirements, and contribute to developing policies, procedures, and standards to deliver value in Building Control services.

Support operational policy development and continuous improvement within Building Control.
