Job description

Job Title: Workshop Assistant

Positions Available:

  • 1x Permanent, Full Time - £28,096 - £30,679 per annum
  • 1x Permanent, Part Time (0.5) - £14,048 - £15,339 per annum

The School of Technical, Construction and Motor Vehicle at Carshalton College is seeking a Workshop Assistant to support technicians in Construction, specializing in Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Bricklaying, and Multi-skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain workshops and equipment for Construction, Engineering, and other relevant areas.
  2. Manage stock levels and inventory, including equipment and materials.
  3. Assist in stock control and manage deliveries of Construction equipment and consumables.
  4. Support academic and technician staff in stores and workshops.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Vocational or trade qualifications (minimum Level 2 NVQ) in trades such as Carpentry and Joinery, Plumbing, Electrical installation, or related fields.
  • Experience in a technician role within a Construction Department or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of administrative systems, Health and Safety legislation, and ability to implement improvements.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and good organisational skills.
Additional Information:

The successful candidate will be eligible for salary increases based on the annual cost of living review.
