Job summary

A long standing partner in the Fire & Security industry is seeking a Technical Support Manager to oversee a dedicated training academy for engineers. The role covers training, auditing and development of both academy trainees and existing engineers across the Midlands region.

Willingness to travel for classroom-based training and staying away one week per month is required. The successful candidate will have extensive Fire & Security engineering experience and strong technical knowledge of

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Fire & Security Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of fire and security systems.
• Experience in training and developing engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide training to trainee engineers.
• Assess and train technicians per British Standards.
• Communicate with trainees and mentors.
• Maintain records of technicians in the programme.
• Lead probation reviews, sign training plans, on-site feedback.
• Support and manage staff to drive productivity.
• Reinforce standards and practices to maintain discipline.
• Be accountable for team performance and trainee revenue.
• Arrange rooms, hotels and facilities for training.
• Handle employee relations and people management.

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded competitor within the Fire & Security industry. As part of their continued growth, they have launched a dedicated training academy and are now seeking an experienced Technical Support Manager to oversee the training, development, upskilling and auditing of both academy trainees and existing engineers.

The successful candidate must have extensive experience as a Fire & Security Engineer, along with a strong technical knowledge of fire and security systems

MUST BE WILLING TO:

• Stay away 1 week a month for classroom based training
• Happy travelling across the Midlands and surrounding

Your responsibilities as a Technical Support Manager:

• Provide exceptional training to trainee engineers
• Assess and train technicians in line with the British Standards
• Communicate effectively with trainees and their mentors
• Maintain the performance records of all technicians in the programme
• Conduct probationary review meetings, training path sign off and regular time on site to deliver both constructive and positive feedback
• Engaging, supporting, and managing employees in line with company policies and procedures to promote high productivity and growth within your department
• Constantly reinforce good practices around relevant standards and practices to discipline
• To be accountable for you teams' performance and monitor revenue during trainee loan working
• Managing the booking of Rooms, hotels and any other facilities needed during academy classroom training
• Engaging, supporting, and managing employees in line with company policies and procedures to promote high productivity and growth within your department
• Support the wider business with employee relations and people management
