Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Technical Support Engineer – Electrical & Controls in Rushden. You will read wiring diagrams, diagnose faults, and guide field engineers to resolve issues from our head office, minimising downtime and improving customer satisfaction.

This on-site role requires an engineering background, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to explain technical problems clearly to customers and colleagues. A commutable distance to Rushden is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering background in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, controls or related discipline.
• Confident reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with ability to identify components and understand systems.
• Good understanding of electrical systems, with mechanical/controls knowledge as a plus.
• Experience supporting engineers or providing technical assistance.
• Confident communication and ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers and colleagues.
• Good IT skills and ability to manage technical information using internal systems.
• Proactive, analytical approach with a passion for problem-solving.
• Based within a commutable distance of Rushden.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to customers and field engineers by phone.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams and schematics to identify faults and determine solutions.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and controls-related issues across equipment and systems.
• Identify components, replacement parts, tooling and equipment required for repairs.
• Guide field engineers through fault-finding procedures and repairs.

We're working with a growing technical services business looking for a technically minded Technical Support Engineer to join its team in Rushden.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems who enjoys fault-finding, interpreting technical drawings and helping others resolve complex engineering problems.

Working from the head office, you'll provide technical support to customers and field engineers, using your engineering knowledge to diagnose faults, identify components and determine the best solutions – without spending every day travelling to site.

What you'll be doing

• Providing technical support and troubleshooting advice to customers and field engineers over the phone.
• Reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams and technical schematics to help identify faults and determine solutions.
• Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and controls-related issues across technical equipment and systems.

What we're looking for

• An engineering background in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, controls or a related discipline.
