Job summary

Scarborough Spa is seeking a highly motivated Technical Supervisor to join our Events Planning and Delivery Team. You will work with visiting promoters, artists, theatre companies and corporate clients, supporting events from planning stages through to live delivery.

Reporting to the Events and Building team Leader, you will supervise safe use of technical equipment, set up lighting, sound, AV and other event production equipment, and help ensure health and safety compliance across a diverse

Responsibilities

• Supervising the safe and effective use of technical equipment by visiting productions and clients
• Setting up and operating lighting, sound, audiovisual and other event production equipment
• Supporting the delivery of conferences, concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and corporate events
• Assisting with the erection and dismantling of staging, scenery, sets, platforms and backdrops
• Supervising and rostering support staff during event preparation and delivery
• Assisting with equipment maintenance and ensuring technical areas are safe, clean and operational
• Overseeing room layouts and event set-ups to meet client requirements
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments and industry best practice

Are you an experienced technical theatre professional looking for your next challenge in one of Yorkshire's most iconic entertainment venues? We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals who can provide outstanding levels of customer service at Scarborough Spa.

Scarborough Spa, operated by North Yorkshire Council, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Technical Supervisor to join our Events Planning and Delivery Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a diverse programme of live entertainment, conferences, exhibitions, corporate events, and community activities at one of the region's premier venues.

Scarborough Spa is situated in the South Bay, Scarborough. The venue is used for conferences, exhibitions, entertainment, live music and events such as the Scarborough Spa Orchestra and the annual Scarborough Jazz Festival.

The role

Reporting to the Events and Building team Leader, you will help ensure the highest standards of technical delivery, presentation, and customer experience across all events and productions. You'll work closely with visiting promoters, artists, theatre companies, and corporate clients, supporting events from planning stages through to live delivery.

Your duties will include:

• Supervising the safe and effective use of technical equipment by visiting productions and clients


• Setting up and operating lighting, sound, audiovisual and other event production equipment


• Supporting the delivery of conferences, concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and corporate events


• Assisting with the erection and dismantling of staging, scenery, sets, platforms and backdrops


• Supervising and rostering support staff, including casual technicians, during event preparation and delivery


• Assisting with equipment maintenance and ensuring technical areas are safe, clean and operational


• Overseeing room layouts and event set‑ups to meet client requirements


• Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments and industry best practice
