An established maritime organisation is seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to join its Ship Management team. The role is responsible for the technical management, maintenance and operational performance of a fleet of LNG vessels. It involves acting as the main technical point of contact for the vessels and working closely with Masters, Chief Engineers, shore-based teams, owners, charterers and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include overseeing planned and unplanned maintenance, repairs, major projects and dry-docking; monitoring planned maintenance systems; managing operating, maintenance and dry-docking budgets; ensuring statutory, class and regulatory compliance; conducting vessel visits and reporting on condition and performance; coordinating surveys, inspections, audits and terminal requirements; managing technical defects, incidents, breakdowns and root-cause investigations; coordinating technical specialists; procuring stores, spares and technical services; reviewing expenditure; supporting vessel personnel processes; monitoring performance; supporting continuous improvement; and acting as Fleet Manager when required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong seagoing engineering background with shore-based technical management experience. Experience as a 1st Engineer or senior engineering officer on LNG vessels is preferred, though other vessel types may be considered. A relevant marine engineering qualification, ideally to Class 1 or degree level, is required, along with knowledge of vessel machinery, maintenance and technical systems. Experience with cargo containment and cargo handling systems is advantageous, as is knowledge of regasification systems and STS operations. Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills are also desired.
