Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Technical Stock Assistant in Staffordshire to support ERF stores, organise materials, and ensure smooth stock flow for maintenance and operations teams. You will receive deliveries, manage stock, and coordinate with suppliers to keep records accurate.

The role requires good computer skills and an ability to work independently within a team, with occasional weekend/overtime during plant events. Training and development are provided in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day running of the ERF stores, helping keep materials organised and available.
• Help ensure maintenance and operations teams have the stock they need to carry out their work.
• Receive and check deliveries, making sure goods are recorded and stored correctly.
• Issue, return and order stock, and follow up delayed orders with suppliers.
• Allocate materials to work orders and help maintain accurate stock records.
• Assist with planned stocktakes and external audits, helping investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
• Liaise with colleagues, suppliers and contractors to coordinate stores activities.
• Keep the main stores and other storage areas clean, tidy and safe.
• Follow company procedures and health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.

What you’ll be doing

What we’re looking for

• Experience in stock control or stores management;
• an engineering qualification or relevant industry experience would be an advantage.
• Good computer skills and the ability to use, or learn, computerised stock-management systems.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail when handling stock, records and orders.
• Clear communication skills, with confidence working with colleagues, suppliers and contractors.
• A positive, practical and hands-on approach to solving problems and managing changing priorities.
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider maintenance and operations team.
• Forklift experience or training would be beneficial.
• Flexibility to work occasional weekends or overtime during plant breakdowns or shutdowns.
