Job summary

Searley Owen Limited in Grays is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Estimator to join our West Thurrock manufacturing team. The role blends customer enquiries, technical estimating, CAD drawing and production preparation.

You will manage enquiries from initial contact through quotation, order confirmation and manufacture preparation, interpreting technical requirements and producing accurate quotations and CAD drawings.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical estimating, technical sales or a similar manufacturing role.
• Background in sheet metal, steel fabrication, industrial doors, roller shutters or a comparable environment.
• Experience using CAD to produce 2D drawings.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer enquiries, establishing requirements and providing technical advice.
• Prepare accurate quotations, calculating material, manufacturing and labour costs.
• Produce 2D General Arrangement drawings using AutoCAD.
• Review customer drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
• Follow up quotations and liaise with customers throughout the order process.
• Prepare job packs and documentation for production.
• Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure jobs are accurately prepared.
• Select and specify appropriate components and hardware.
• Use Excel to calculate costs, prepare pricing and maintain estimating records.
• Help resolve technical queries and ensure orders progress smoothly through production.

Technical Sales Estimator (CAD / Manufacturing)

We are recruiting for an experienced Technical Sales Estimator to join an established manufacturing business based in West Thurrock.

This is a varied role combining customer enquiries, technical estimating, CAD drawing and production preparation.

Working with an established customer base, you will manage enquiries from initial contact through to quotation, order confirmation and preparation for manufacture.

We're looking for somebody with a good understanding of manufacturing processes who is confident interpreting technical requirements, producing accurate quotations and creating CAD drawings.

Key Skills & Experience

• Experience in technical estimating, technical sales, CAD or a similar manufacturing role.
• A background in sheet metal, steel fabrication, industrial doors, roller shutters or a comparable manufacturing environment.
• Experience using AutoCAD to produce 2D drawings.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and technical drawings.
• Strong Excel skills, particularly for costing and estimating.
• Confident communicating with customers and internal production teams.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple enquiries.

Experience with SolidWorks, RADAN, sheet metal nesting software or Excel macros/VBA would be advantageous but is not essential.

Pay & Benefits

• Basic Salary of £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
• Monday to Friday working hours.
