Job summary

VARGUS UK are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our UK sales team, covering the West Midlands. You will combine engineering knowledge with customer facing activities to solve machining problems and introduce cutting tool technologies.

Ideal candidates have CNC machining experience and a passion for building long-term relationships with engineers and manufacturers. A field-based role with autonomy and strong product support awaits.

Qualifications

• Completed an engineering apprenticeship within CNC machining/manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years' post-apprenticeship CNC machining experience.
• Strong practical understanding of CNC machines and metal cutting processes.
• Good knowledge of cutting tools and their successful application.
• Confidence communicating with engineers and customers.
• Practical, problem solving approach.
• Drive, tenacity and ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop customers throughout the West Midlands.
• Plan and conduct customer visits.
• Provide hands-on CNC machining and cutting tool application support.
• Help customers improve machining processes, productivity and tool life.
• Conduct cutting tool trials and demonstrate new technologies.
• Present new products and technical solutions.
• Support both direct customers and our distribution network.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities.
• Build and manage a strong sales pipeline.

Previous sales experience is not essential. We're more interested in finding someone with strong CNC machining knowledge, a good understanding of cutting tools and the personality and ambition to build relationships with customers.

This is much more than a traditional sales role.

You'll work directly with manufacturing companies, engineers and distributors across your territory, helping customers solve machining problems, improve productivity and introduce new cutting tool technologies.

You'll manage and develop an established territory while identifying new opportunities and building long term customer relationships.

You'll have the autonomy to manage your own diary and territory, supported by an experienced UK team and the technical resources of a global cutting tool manufacturer.

What You'll Be Doing

Who We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll have:

• Completed an engineering apprenticeship within CNC machining/manufacturing
• At least 5 years' post apprenticeship CNC machining experience
• A strong practical understanding of CNC machines and metal cutting processes
• Good knowledge of cutting tools and their successful application
• Confidence communicating with engineers and customers
• A practical, problem solving approach
• Drive, tenacity and the ability to work independently
• A full UK driving licence
