Job summary

Coats Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Technical Sales Engineer for an established engineering business in Lye. The role focuses on technical sales, customer relationship management and business development, translating customer requirements into accurate quotations and profitable orders.

You'll produce CAD layouts and costed solutions, prepare detailed quotations, and provide pre-sales technical support. Regular travel between sites and to customer sites is expected to grow the business and

Qualifications

• Experience in technical sales, engineering or manufacturing is beneficial.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience with CAD software or willingness to learn AutoCAD.
• Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Willingness to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Handle customer enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-face meetings.
• Understand, interpret and clarify customer requirements.
• Produce technical layouts and costed solutions using CAD software.
• Prepare accurate, detailed and competitive quotations and tender submissions.
• Follow up quotations to secure profitable business.
• Develop and maintain product knowledge to provide technical advice.
• Provide pre-sales technical support and product guidance to customers.
• Ensure orders are processed accurately and communicated to design and manufacturing.
• Keep customers informed of order progress and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain records of enquiries, quotations, orders and customer activity using Sage CRM.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Build relationships to understand needs and develop future sales opportunities.
• Work with Contracts, Engineering and Production to meet requirements.
• Attend customer site visits, trade shows and exhibitions as required.
• Travel between company sites when needed.
