Job summary

Urenco UK Ltd in Capenhurst is seeking a Technical Safety Specialist (Project Support) to embed safety frameworks across major projects. You will support hazard studies, safety assessments, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and Urenco standards.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Engineering, Science, Health & Safety, or related discipline.
• Chartered status or postgraduate qualifications desirable.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead Technical Safety Delivery (Projects).
• Support the implementation of technical safety frameworks across major projects and programmes located globally.
• Develop practical guidance, procedures, templates, and working documents to support project delivery.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and support HSE objectives across the project portfolio.
• Provide specialist technical safety advice to project teams and stakeholders.
• Facilitate and contribute to HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA studies.
• Support functional safety assessments, SIL determination, and safety verification activities.
• Undertake or support fire risk assessments, consequence modelling, and risk assessments where required.
• Ensure technical safety risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively throughout project delivery.
• Work with Design Authority, R&D teams, subject matter experts to integrate safety into designs.
• Review technical documentation, engineering assessments, and safety deliverables.
• Support commissioning, safety-critical equipment verification, and handover activities.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and Urenco standards.
• Promote lessons learned, best practice, and knowledge sharing across projects.
• Support development of technical safety processes, methodologies, and training.
