Technical Quality Manager

Location: Sheffield

Shift: Monday to Friday

Salary: Competitive

Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying delicious wholesale bakery products for over 35 years, starting with the first floured bap. Both have been part of the Finsbury Food Group since 2014. Fletchers Bakery traces its roots back to 1895, and our product portfolio includes gourmet brioche, traditional sliced bread, bloomer breads, vegan and gluten-free options, among others.

Job Purpose

To manage the quality functions of Fletchers Bakery to ensure compliance with legislation and customer requirements. To uphold quality systems and support the central technical team in implementing systems for technical standards and continuous improvement. To manage objectives set by the Site Technical Manager within agreed timescales.

Role Key Accountabilities
  1. Manage daily site quality activities through the QFLM team.
  2. Supervise and develop the performance of the QFLM and other teams.
  3. Support Operations to meet technical and quality standards efficiently.
  4. Monitor GMP standards, conduct internal audits, and ensure corrective actions.
  5. Maintain and audit quality system documentation.
  6. Review QA process records and follow up on issues.
  7. Utilize systems like M3, Power BI, Autocoding, and participate in new system implementations as SME.
  8. Support customer visits and third-party audits.
  9. Approve product quality standards and ensure compliance with Food Safety, Legality, and Quality Systems.
Continuous Improvement
  1. Use data to enhance product quality and standards.
  2. Apply Root Cause Problem Solving techniques.
  3. Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  4. Standardize practices across Finsbury and share best practices.
  5. Automate and systematize tasks to focus on continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  1. Experience in a similar environment with knowledge of food production legislation and standards.
  2. Understanding of manufacturing operations and company goals.
  3. Attention to detail and leadership skills.
  4. Qualifications in Food Safety, Microbiology, and Quality Assurance.
  5. Proven track record in continuous improvement and team leadership.
  6. Flexible, proactive, with excellent communication skills.
