CONFIDENTIAL EXECUTIVE SEARCH
Fire & Acoustic-Rated Doorsets | Leadership Team | South of England
Become the technical authority behind every product a market leader makes, and help shape its next chapter of growth.
Our client is a leading UK manufacturer of high-performance, fire and acoustic-rated timber doorsets, trusted by contractors, fit-out specialists and specifiers on demanding projects across the country. Privately owned, investor-backed and growing at pace, with revenue comfortably above £30m and ambitions for continued double-digit growth, the business has invested heavily in its people, capacity and product capability. It now wants a senior technical leader to take ownership of its product portfolio and its test evidence, and to join the leadership team that will drive the next stage.
This is a rare chance to hold the senior technical seat at the table in one of the most scrutinised and fastest-changing parts of the construction products market, at a time when getting it right has never mattered more.
YOUR MISSION
Lead the technical integrity, compliance and product stewardship of a market-leading portfolio of fire and acoustic-rated products, so that every doorset is safe, evidence-based and defensible, and so that the business can innovate and grow with confidence.
WHAT YOU'LL LEAD
- Product strategy and portfolio: own the technical specifications, permitted applications and integrity of the whole product range.
- Product development: lead new product development and lifecycle decisions, with disciplined, traceable change control.
- Testing, certification and evidence: own the test programme, certification, technical files and relationships with certification bodies, keeping everything robust, current and audit-ready.
- Regulatory leadership: interpret and prepare the business for regulatory change, including the transition from BS to EN standards, and represent the company with industry and external bodies.
- Technical governance: set the standards, and give clear direction on technical risk and product liability.
- The technical function: lead and develop the team across product engineering, technical delivery, testing and certification.
- The leadership team: contribute to strategy, risk and investment decisions, working closely with operations, quality and commercial colleagues.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 10-15 years in fire doors, fenestration, fire-resistant products or other regulated construction products.
- Senior leadership across product development, design engineering, product management or technical stewardship.
- Hands‑on experience of managing testing, certification and technical files, and of working with certification bodies or regulators.
- Deep knowledge of fire door construction, components, testing and failure modes, and of the relevant BS/EN standards, UKCA/CE marking and certification schemes.
- A track record of delivering complex, cross-functional technical projects, and of leading an established team through significant change.
