Technical Product Developer - Parental Cover (FTC)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Product Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all technical aspects of the product development process, in line with the global critical path, across handbags, small leather goods and accessories. This role requires a strong understanding of leather goods and construction, excellent technical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers and our supply base to ensure quality and craftsmanship from initial prototypes to production.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Technical Assistant based in our Milton Keynes DC, including a weekly visit.
  2. Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to bring to development new leather handbags, small leather goods and accessories.
  3. Evaluate prototypes and create technical workbooks to risk assess any new development with our supply base.
  4. Work with our manufacturers to ensure quality and timely development up to the start of production.
  5. Assess prototypes and raw materials liaising with supply base to ensure required tests are conducted in line with quality and compliance standards.
  6. Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers throughout the development process.
  7. Responsible for tracking and ensuring on-time sealing of all contract seals into the business.
  8. Ensure all production material specification cards are sent as per the critical path and provide approval based on Radley standards.
  9. Provide clear and effective support to both internal and external customers, addressing their needs and responding promptly.
  10. Ad-hoc duties: support colleagues, take on additional responsibilities, or get involved in project work as needed.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product development and technical roles for leather goods, preferably handbags and accessories.
  • Experience and strong understanding of technical requirements related to testing and compliance.
  • Excellent understanding of leather goods production processes and techniques, with troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for quality.
  • Effective communication skills to convey information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
