Job summary

TEAM Inc. in Reading is seeking a Technical Presales Consultant to shape complex data centre projects, win customer confidence and take ownership of delivery from initial discussions through to final handover.

This role is split roughly 50/50 between technical pre-sales and project delivery, with hybrid working and regular travel to customer sites across the UK. You will work closely with customers to translate requirements into practical, deliverable solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven technical pre-sales experience with customer discovery, scoping and proposals.
• Strong knowledge of physical IT infrastructure and data centre environments.
• Experience managing infrastructure projects with budgets, resources and delivery risk.
• Experience in IT infrastructure services or systems integrator environments.

Responsibilities

• Work with the sales team to understand customer requirements and conduct site surveys.
• Develop accurate estimates, scopes of work and technical proposals for bids.
• Manage projects from planning to completion, controlling budgets, resources and timelines.
• Coordinate engineers, suppliers and subcontractors for installations and relocations.
• Identify risks early and communicate clearly with customers throughout the lifecycle.
• Share pre-sales knowledge to support colleagues in discovery, scoping and estimating.

Getting a technical solution right from the start can make all the difference between a project that runs smoothly and one that runs into problems. As a Technical Presales Consultant, you'll have the opportunity to shape complex data centre projects, win customer confidence and take ownership of delivery from initial discussions through to final handover.

This is a genuinely varied position, split approximately 50/50 between technical pre-sales and project delivery. You'll work directly with customers to understand their requirements, develop practical solutions and ensure projects are delivered successfully.

You'll be joining a specialist physical IT infrastructure services business, working closely with an established five-person team and reporting directly to the COO.

Your responsibilities as Technical Presales Consultant

• Work alongside the sales team to understand customer requirements, conduct site surveys and identify practical technical solutions.
• Develop accurate estimates, scopes of work and technical proposals that support successful bids and customer commitments.
• Manage infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion, maintaining control of budgets, resources and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate engineers, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure installations, relocations and decommissioning projects are delivered successfully.
• Identify technical and operational risks early, maintaining clear customer communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Share your pre-sales knowledge with colleagues, supporting their development in customer discovery, technical scoping and estimating.

What we're looking for in a Technical Presales Consultant

• Demonstrable technical pre-sales experience, including customer discovery, solution design, scoping, estimating and supporting successful bids.
• Strong practical knowledge of physical IT infrastructure within live data centre environments, including rack-and-stack, cabling and hardware installations.
• Experience independently managing technical infrastructure projects, including budgets, resources, suppliers and delivery risks.
• Background within an IT infrastructure services provider, systems integrator, technology vendor or a similar technical environment.
• Experience working directly with customers, translating technical requirements into commercially viable proposals and deliverable project plans.

Working hours: Full-time, with hybrid working, regular attendance at the Bracknell office and travel to customer sites across the UK. Specific working hours to be confirmed.
