Job summary

Acorn Group is seeking a Technical Personal Injury Handler to manage a technically complex PI caseload, including high-value and litigated claims, under Haven Delegated Authority. The role emphasizes training and guidance to junior handlers and cross-site hybrid work across Liverpool or Sevenoaks.

Key duties include aggressive diary management, reserve reviews, and proactive settlement pursuit while aligning with KPIs and SLAs. Strong knowledge of case law and CPR is essential.

Qualifications

• Personal Injury claims handling experience
• Ability to use own initiative to explore options and own outcomes
• Highly motivated self-starter requiring minimal supervision
• Excellent team player
• Understanding of case law, statute, CPR and Pre-Action Protocols

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage own portfolio with diary management to meet KPIs and SLAs
• Handle claims within defined authority
• Review claims to reserve appropriately and refer those exceeding authority
• Mitigate claims leakage and spend through proactive management
• Drive and negotiate settlements at earliest opportunity
• Contribute to technical strategies and broader business results
• Identify when to use external providers (barristers, solicitors, experts)
• Participate in training of less experienced handlers and support auditing
• Assist with ad hoc tasks as needed
